The team over at Pixwerk Studios had originally turned to Kickstarter in order to make their game Tower 57 come to life. They were successful in that endeavor and had been hard at work since the conclusion of that campaign. But the gaming community wasn’t the only one to notice this title. As it turns out – 11 Bit Studios also had their attention caught, and decided to approach Pixwerk in order to publish the game. In short, Tower 57 gets a second coming of sorts, allowing the title to really go the extra mile when it comes to release platforms and content. The first of these is a brand new trailer, published by 11 Bit Studios to their YouTube channel.
In the interest of full transparency, Pixwerk’s developer “Benitosub” made a post detailing what this publishing deal means for Tower 57.
- The priority concern that needed to be addressed is the release date. Tower 57 is now releasing in 2017, rather than in 2016. But that’s really the only “bad news” when it comes to this, and even then the amount of good manages to offset that.
- Two of the major Stretch Goals of the game that didn’t get reached in the Kickstarter make a comeback. Tower 57 is now coming to consoles (Xbox One, PS4, maybe Wii U?). They’ll be released with the PC and Amiga versions of the game. Online Multiplayer makes a “Peer to Peer” comeback. Which means you can play this game with your friends online without having to worry about server support.
- The last big change this publishing deal brings is community related support and exposure. Tower 57 will be at Gamescom and PAX West, allowing the game to reach more of the public in a face-to-face manner. Additionally, 11 Bit Studios will take over social media updates and community management more directly, allowing the developers to devote more attention to Tower 57 itself.
On a side note, the publishing deal means the Collector’s Edition of the game will get a better look, in addition to the rest of the game’s merchandise.
Tower 57 is set to arrive in 2017 for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and…. Amiga. To learn more about the game check out their website, Twitter, and Facebook.
