Destiny 2 Expected to Release in 2017; “The Majority of the Team” Is Working on It

No one can deny the success Bungie’s Destiny has received since its release, and the developer believes that Destiny 2 is “going to be awesome.”

During the recent Activision Blizzard earnings call, Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg revealed the studio’s future plans for the franchise and what they are currently doing with the sequel.

As for the future, the majority of the team at Bungie is actually focused entirely on creating Destiny 2, which is still on track for release next year and it’s going to be awesome.

In another part of the earnings call, COO Thomas Tippl discussed Destiny’s figures and how it faired during the month, revealing that experienced a month-on-month growth when it comes to monthly active users.

Destiny also saw month on month growth in MAUs [monthly active users] with the launch of our April update with the June announce of Destiny’s next expansion, Rise of Iron. The continued hunger for great new content from this passionate community bodes well for the September launch of Rise of Iron. Digital pre-purchases so far are very strong and tracking ahead of last year’s Taken King.

Destiny 2 is expected to release in 2017.
