Party it up in Bear vs Methlab

July 27, 2016 by Nick Monroe

It’s a party game where bears try and stop Adolf Hitler.

BearVsMethlabHeaderThis upcoming title from Whitebox Interactive is called Bear vs Methlab. The team behind the game uploaded their gameplay trailer to YouTube. It’s certainly one of those experiences that needs to be seen to be believed.

Here’s the plot involved in the Bear vs Methlab saga.

“The story, best described as a multi-dimensional space opera, begins when history’s worst war criminal and time-traveling necromancer hatches a plot to cook and sell meth to fund his genocidal wars in alternate universes. Only an infinite number of bears from parallel universes can stop Hitler, and put an end to his evil.

Chasing Hitler through parallel universes will lead to bizarre locations and inhabitants. Enemies in New Mexico are foul-mouthed tributes to television’s most famed meth cooks. The haunted house multiverse and levels features ghost baddies, which definitely aren’t just guys wearing spooky bed sheets.”

The actual game itself here is a 4-player party game where you and your friends play as cartoon bears. You’ll battle it out across a host of different mini-game that include a variety of destruction and sports elements to them. There’s a deep level of customization involved with the bears for some reason, so if you want your beast to stand out you have that opportunity here.

We’ll get to play Bear vs Methlab no matter what by Q1 2017. But the team decided to make a Kickstarter campaign in order to raise money for extra levels and mini games. The rewards range from a $3 “Bear Hug” (you get your name in the credits, plus a set of digital wallpapers) to a $5000 pledge that lets you have a party with the developers, plus Executive Producer credit. They’ve stated that Bear vs Methlab is already a very solid game as it is, but this Kickstarter would give them a chance to add the final layers of polish and music they’d like to offer here.

“We got sore from punching each other over unfair mini games and stolen stars in other party games, so we decided to make something balanced,” said Whitebox Interactive CEO Jonathan Falkowski. “Plus it provides an alibi for typing methlab into Google for when the DEA inevitably raids your place. You’re welcome.”

If you want to give this game a bump on Greenlight for PC, you can head on over here. To check out more stuff from the developers, head on over to their website, Twitter and Facebook.
