Risen 2 Rises Again with a Huge Patch

May 10, 2012 by Ian Miles Cheong

A new patch surfaces on the coast of Risen 2.

Our favorite pirate adventure gets patched up today with the release of a new update for Risen 2: Dark Waters.

The patch adds a new and completely overhauled fighting system that offers players the possibility of blocking attacks from all creatures—including medium and large-sized monsters that you encounter throughout your adventures.

In addition to the block ability, you can now dodge during combat by pressing the direction keys twice, so you won't turn into a damage sponge for everything that gets in your way. The lack of dodging and blocking prior to this patch was almost criminal, so it's nice to see the developers taking notice and making things right.

In addition to the new features, the draw distance, terrain rendering and vegetation rendering—all of which previously suffered from 'pop-in' have been fixed.

You can grab the patch automatically on Steam if you have the game installed.
