“Leaked” Black Ops II screens are from Blacklight Retribution

May 9, 2012 by Mat Growcott

A series of leaked screenshots apparently from Black Ops II are, in fact, images from free-to-play Perfect World game Blacklight Retribution.

The internet has been going mad; yes, again. The above screenshot was released by a Youtube user and subsequently turned up on several sites claiming it was a new look for Call of Duty's multiplayer modes. Turns out, and you could knock me over with a feather, that it was a hoax. And not even a very good one.

The screenshot below is from the free-to-play and rather enjoyable Blacklight Retribution, a social FPS that takes many of the best features from Call of Duty and puts them into a nice looking Unreal game. It's good fun and, for free, it's well worth checking out. Somebody DID check it out and apparently liked what they saw.

Still, if nothing else, the excitement around this single screen proves people are ready for more Call of Duty multiplayer, and the hype is definitely already building.
