The sequel to Bad Rats has just about the same amount of Specialist Rats, Cat Deaths, and prepackaged maps included as the original game. But the big change here is Bad Rats Show takes step forward into a fuller 3D environment experience, compared to the 2.5D roots of the original game. Other than that, they added a map editor feature. This will allow you to make Bad Rats maps of your own to torture your friends and innocent people on Steam with.
The story premise of Bad Rats Show expands on the original game’s ideas. The vengeful rats have captured the cats in order to torture them, but now they’ve expanded their ritual to be an entertainment experience for the rat audiences to relish in.
For those of you who don’t know, Bad Rats was a physics puzzle game that came out back in July 2009. Somehow it gained “Cult Classic” noteriety, with the public’s response to the game stating that it’s either the Best or Worst experience of their lives. To put it another way – don’t expect too many serious reviews of the game, that focus on objectivity. But if you look past all the memes, Bad Rats is a simple game. You have ten rats with the aim of getting revenge on cats, across 44 different maps of gameplay. It had some cheesy cartoon violence as well.
The sequel actually looks like an improvement though? The team at Invent4 Entertainment had seven years of practice, and even by the previews alone it seems that time didn’t go to waste. Hopefully the game’s mechanics hold up to the improvement in visuals.
