Guild Wars 2 Transfer Mechanics Discussed

April 25, 2012 by Jacob Saylor

More information is unveiled.

In a new ArenaNet Blog post, Martin Kerstein shed some light on Guild Wars 2’s world transfer mechanics. He discusses how much transfers will cost, "guesting," and much more.

The cost of switching “worlds” will be 1,800 gems, and transfers can only be done once every seven days per player account. What will result is all existing characters associated with the account being switched to a new, chosen home world. The player will then represent that world in world-versus-world combat.

If you did not know already, Guild Wars 2 will be hosting free beta weekend this upcoming weekend. In this beta, you will be gifted with 2,000 gems to begin with. This means you can try out the world transfer function once for free, should you require it.

It should also be noted that the “guesting” tool, which allows players to visit another user’s realm for a short time, will not be available for use during this event.

This beta weekend is currently scheduled to run from April 27th – April 29th, so hurry up and start downloading the game!
