Journey Soundtrack Tops iTunes Sales Charts

April 18, 2012 by Jacob Saylor

Amazing sales for amazing sounds.

It looks like the Indie game category of development has triumphed once again. Journey’s soundtrack has forcefully placed itself atop iTunes sales charts in over twenty countries, the likes of which include Canada, Spain and Japan; it also claimed the number one spot in eight of these countries.

The video game industry is often father to video games with extremely inspiring soundtracks. Some of the more memorable music comes from franchises such as Mario, Halo, and Zelda.

However, the independent developers of today’s industry have been showing out in recent years. A prime example comes in the form of Bastion, which released last year to extremely favorable reviews. Bastion conquered other games such as Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception and many others when the time came for media outlets to vote on their Game of the Year. The music in Bastion – like Journey – was what set it apart from other games.

The soundtrack includes eighteen tracks and is available for purchase right here.
