Jordan Weisman spoke to ShackNews earlier today, making it known that he would like to acquire the license for Crimson Skies.
“I’m hopeful that’s another property that I can approach soon. I’m in discussions with [the license’s current owners] about that. I’m hoping that we can bring that back to life as well,” said the enthusiastic developer.
“That era and that story is one of my favorites that we came up with and I’d love to be able to go back and tell stories in that world.”
The aircraft simulator/action genre is slowly but surely dying in today’s gaming space, with franchises like Ace Combat and new startups like Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X not faring so well. This could be a huge coup for fans of the game type if everything comes through, and if Weisman can get the aforementioned license.
Weisman is currently working on Shadowrun Returns, whose Kickstarter recently went up and over the lofty goal of $400,000 and is now sitting at almost $900,000. There are still sixteen days left for extra funding to be attained.
