BioWare has announced the planned release of a new series of novels set within the Mass Effect universe that will tie the pre-existing trilogy with their upcoming title, Mass Effect Andromeda.
The four novels will be published by Titan Books and will serve as both a prequel and sequels to the in-game story. According to the publisher, each of the books will focus on key characters within the game and provide answers to questions gamers have been asking.
The first three games focused on the defense of the Milky Way galaxy, which was invaded by a mysterious alien race called the Reapers. The upcoming game will be set in the far-flung Andromeda galaxy and will feature all new planets to go visit and alien races to interact with. The game takes place hundreds of years after the events of the original trilogy.
Mass Effect Andromeda: Initiation will be the first in the series, written by SFF author NK Jemisin. It’s due for release in August 2016. The following three books will be released in March 2017, September 2017 and March 2018. The last book will be penned by Mass Effect writer Mac Walters.
Mass Effect Andromeda has been dated for a Q1 2017 release across PC, Xbox One and PS4 platforms.
