The technology powering Microsoft’s Kinect, formerly known as Natal, will soon be coming to PCs and set top boxes according to PrimeSense Vice President, Adi Berenson. Prime Sense is responsible for the camera-control technology in Kinect. According to Berenson, the company has already roped in one cable company which will be launching a gesture controlled set top box in 2011 and is also working on putting cameras into TV sets which will also be hitting markets next year.
The equipped system will have a pair of 640 x 480 camera sensors to get an idea of the user’s position in 3D space, but unlike Kinect, it won’t be supporting Voice Recognition.
