Kinect only works while standing?

If you’re one of the few people who likes to play games sitting on your couch, Kinect will probably not work for you. According to a report from IGN, Kinect only works when you’re standing up because it has issues calibrating your skeletal frame while sitting down.

According to Microsoft, you can play some Kinect games sitting down. It “varies” by experience. However, several developers told IGN the exact opposite. If this turns out to be the case when Kinect makes its way into stores this will add insult to injury to Microsoft’s mediocre showing at this year’s E3.

This pretty much explains the fact why we saw Forza Motorsport being played at E3 in stand up mode. We understand the fact that you might have to stand up while playing a majority of kinect games, but standing up “to grab a slider and advance through frames of a movie” would not go very well with consumers. Kinect, previously known as Project Natal, will be launching in November for Xbox 360.
