Konami has shared a celebration of Castlevania’s 40 year anniversary.
The very first Castlevania released in 1986 on the Famicom Disk System, establishing the premise of Simon Belmont, vampire killer, taking the trip to Dracula’s castle to fight all his minions on the way to their final showdown.
Konami created a fanservice animation for the occasion, showing Simon scaling up the castle only to meet the franchise’s other heroes as they celebrate.
Along the way, Simon enters Dracula’s living room, with framed portraits of art from Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, Castlevania: Curse of Darkness, Castlevania: Lament of Innocence, and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.
Fans are already asking if this is a hint at Konami making a future 3D Castlevania collection. Though the latest Castlevania game being in that teaser doesn’t entirely make sense, it seemed like Konami was planning it anyway.
It also makes us raise the question if Konami will ever work on ending the Sony exclusivity for Castlevania: Requiem, if at least to make a newer and better special edition for its games.
For now, Konami is rereleasing the original Castlevania on iOS and Android, free for a limited time.
