Another major reshuffling seems to be coming to XBOX.
Following claims from multiple sources that another round of XBOX layoffs is coming this week, Nate The Hate said this on ResetERA:
The Halo news will vary individual to individual. Layoffs are bad, of course; but as for the series’ future… people will react in a variety of ways.
When asked to elaborate, Nate said this:
Well, more than just Halo will be moving under ABK. And other studios will move to different companies within Xbox/MS.
And this:
Just for clarity sake: I said Halo is being moved under ABK.
While Nate is avoiding naming Halo Studios directly, he seems to be hinting that the studio is about to be closed, with developers to be retained or laid off as XBOX sees fit.
As we’ve seen in the past few weeks, sentiment around XBOX’s layoffs have shifted from overwhelmingly negative to mixed. Some XBOX fans feel, for example, that letting go of Double Fine was justified.
It reflects how Asha has managed the situation smarter than her predecessors. If layoffs are unavoidable to fix XBOX, she’s made the case to justify them effectively.
