Rockstar has hit an unexpected snag in marketing GTA 6.

As reported by the Miami Herald, Mayor Daniella Levine Cava or Miami-Dade County signed a marketing deal with Rockstar Games. However, the deal is facing opposition from the county’s sheriff, Rosie Cordero-Stutz.
Vice City was of course inspired by Miami, but the real life city is a small part of Miami-Dade county in the state of Florida. Miami-Dade county’s GTA counterpart is Vice-Dale County.
Rockstar’s deal with Mayor Daniella would have multiple public spaces across Miami-Dade county, not just Miami, turned into their GTA counterparts. Ideas include adding “Welcome to Vice City” signs in their airport, and manholes and Metromover cars having Vice City branding.
On the side, fans have already seen Netflix putting up Vice City signs in front of their own advertising in Los Angeles, the real life version of GTA’s Los Santos.
So this may seem to be a small political tiff, but Miami-Dade could very well miss out on tourism opportunities if Rockstar moves their deal elsewhere.
