Marvel Rivals is facing one of its biggest controversies for a while.
The game is currently doing a summer costume event, with some characters getting new epic and legendary costumes. Legendary costumes are higher tier than epic costumes, as the will get their own cinematic character intros, new gameplay animations and sound effects.
As explained on ResetERA, the fans reacted harshly after NetEase revealed the new epic summer costume for Storm. The issue is, NetEase hasn’t given Storm a new Legendary summer costume, when any other heroes, notably every other woman in the game, has Legendaries.
This apparently broke down to drama in the Marvel Rivals Discord between casual and hardcore players as well as the mods.
In response, NetEase promised on the official Marvel Rivals Twitter account they would upgrade Storm’s Sacred Skies swimsuit costume to Legendary, adding new animations at the same price. They also committed to adding more Storm Legendary costumes in the future.
In the months since we’ve last reported on Marvel Rivals, Overwatch has won ground back from it in the hero shooter space. These costumers have become central to this game, so NetEase has to work double to appease fans in this regard.
