Rumor: Valve Threatened To Remove Ubisoft & WB Games Titles From Steam Over Pricing Parity

New allegations have come forward regarding how Valve treats their game developers on Steam.

Bloomberg has a new investigation into the company in the fallout of current antitrust litigation, particularly David Rosen’s suit over Valve’s 30 % cut.

Valve has argued in court that they are simply seeing more success than competitors simply because they are running their business better. But new claims in the courts paint a different picture.

A former employee revealed that Gabe and other senior employees vetoed exempting games that made less than a $ 1 million from the 30 % cut.

An email showed Valve threatening to delist Rainbow Six Siege after Ubisoft tried to launch a $ 15 starter pack exclusively on Uplay.

In a third instance, Valve’s Kassidy Gerber wrote to Warner Bros that they were removing Middle-earth: Shadow of War because of its higher price on Steam. Former WB Games head David Haddad reportedly rushed to call Gerber to resolve the issue.

Gerber denied Valve had a pricing parity policy in deposition, but this was what Rosen himself alleged when he 1^st filed this suit. And so even more unflattering claims may come from this continuing litigation.
