Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XIV is coming to Nintendo Switch 2.

They made the announcement official in the West with a post on the official Final Fantasy Bluesky account. The game will debut in Nintendo’s platform after over 15 years this August 2026.
As shared in ResetERA by Shona, Square Enix made more announcements in Japan as well. Please note that there may be different arrangements in other countries.
What they did say in Japan is that there will be a one month free early access period. Like many other Switch 2 live service games, Final Fantasy XIV will also not require a Switch Online subscription to play online.
Now for the rough part. The Switch 2 version requires its own subscription, separate from an existing Final Fantasy XIV subscriptions you may already have. If you decided to double down, the Switch 2 subscription will be 50 % off.
As we pointed out, there may be different arrangements for the US and other regions, so we should wait for more Square Enix to share more information.
