Rumor: Crystal Dynamics Making Lord Of The Rings Game Funded By UAE, Warhorse Studios A Different Project

Insider Gaming made an unexpected update to a rumor about a Lord of the Rings game.

As they have now learned, Crystal Dynamics is the studio making the Lord of the Rings game with $ 100 million in funding from the UAE, via the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO).

There was a new rumor yesterday that Warhorse Studios has been working on a Lord of the Rings open world RPG for a few months now. At the time, it seemed like this was the game funded by the UAE. We know now that isn’t the case at all.

The Warhorse Studios game is probably also legit, given the credibility of its source, Polish game industry veteran Ryszard Chojnowski.

So yes, that means we have two upcoming Lord of the Rings games to look forward to. Both of these are of course under Embracer after they acquired the rights from Tolkien’s estate in 2022.
