Rumor: Xbox Game Studios Is Making An Open World RPG and A Sci-Fi/Horror Shooter

Timur222 has found some interesting new games from Xbox Game Studios.

As a reminder, while Phil Spencer lords over Microsoft Gaming, Bethesda and Activision Blizzard continue to operate separately. Xbox Game Studios are comprised of the studios Microsoft owns outside of those two. They include Halo Studios, Playground Games, The Coalition, InXile, Obsidian, etc.

Timur found the LinkedIn profile of one Dave Mongan, who’s done a lot of work as senior narrative director in Xbox Game Studios.

He lists games like State of Decay 2, Crackdown 3, Ninja Gaiden 4, and Contraband, in his profile. But he also refers to

• Unannounced Open-World Fantasy RPG
• Unannounced Sci-Fi/Military/Horror First-Person Shooter

Notably, we don’t have further details on these games, including their status. Contraband was allegedly quietly cancelled, so it is possible these games were cancelled as well.

On the other hand, since these games are still unannounced, we don’t know if they’re still in development either. They could very well be farewell games for the Xbox Series X|S, or games planned for the next Xbox generation. It would certainly be great if these are early hints at new games we’ll get in a few years.
