Embark Studios were hit by a DDOS attack yesterday, hitting both of their titles ARC Raiders and The Finals.
As reported by Eurogamer, Embark shared this message on Discord the other day:
Hey Raiders, both ARC Raiders and THE FINALS have been under extensive, co-ordinated DDoS attacks.
The strike team has been working hard on mitigations and solutions to fix the problem, and we are making good progress – but at this point in time the attacks are still ongoing.
They also later revealed that their servers were recovering. For what it’s worth, we checked Embark’s social media and didn’t find that they announced this issue outside Discord.
Apparently, they still had over 100,000 players in ARC Raiders throughout the DDOS attack, based on SteamDB data. This may be an indication that Embark was successful in cutting off the attack while it happened, or SteamDB data may not be telling the complete picture.
We assume that if this becomes a matter of public interest, like the GTA 6 leaker who attacked multiple websites, Embark will share more details about this incident later.
