Skyrim Update 1.5 Adds New Kill Cams

March 15, 2012 by Josh Harmon

Because it’s not really Game of the Year material unless you can suplex someone.

Bethesda has released a trailer showcasing some of the brand new kill cam animations that Skyrim Update 1.5 will be adding to the game.

For the first time, finishing off your final opponent with a spell or ranged attack will now feature feature the same dramatic camera angles and flashy animations that you net for melee kills. Those of you who prefer a close quarters brawl won't be left out, either, as melee weapons have been updated with new killcam animations as well.

In addition to the new killcams, the 1.5 patch also introduces some other graphical improvements to the game and fixes the rather glaring loophole in the game's crafting system. While you could previously grind that skill to level 100 by churning out iron daggers, now the experience earned from each craft is proportional to the value of the item you create.

The 1.5 update is currently available as a beta on Steam and should go live for all users shortly. A patch for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game will be available soon after.
