Rockstar Promises Grand Theft Auto Online Content After A Safehouse In The Hills

December 11, 2025 by Ryan Parreno

Maybe this wasn’t really the end of support.

Rockstar has made it clear that A Safehouse in the Hills is not the end of support for Grand Theft Auto Online.

They shared this message in the end of their post on Rockstar Newswire:

There’s plenty to look forward to in the weeks and months ahead as well, including festive celebrations, more new vehicles, Odd Jobs and Missions, along with seasonal Adversary Modes and more.

Why Did Fans Think Grand Theft Auto Online Support Was About To End?

Rockstar didn’t say anything about A Safehouse in the Hills being the last content or story campaign for Grand Theft Auto Online. Fans, including dataminers, have been speculating that this is the case.

That speculation is based on perception on how big the content drop in A Safehouse in the Hills is. On top of that, many fans opined that the story campaign, that features the return of Michael de Santa, is a fitting way to cap off the story for Grand Theft Auto Online as well as Grand Theft Auto V.

Did Rockstar Change Their Mind Or Not?

Now, it is possible that this is what Rockstar had in mind, right until they had to delay Grand Theft Auto 6. In which case, they simply made new plans to extend support for Grand Theft Auto Online.

They would have known that their loyal fans would be looking for games to play. And Rockstar has a unique opportunity to keep their fans happy since they have this ongoing live service.

Not every franchise has an ongoing title that could fit that need. For example, Mass Effect fans can only keep waiting for when EA makes the next game in the franchise.

Subsequently, Fallout fans were unhappy when Bethesda did not capitalize on the breakout success of the Amazon show. Unlike Rockstar, though, their live service title, Fallout 76, didn’t have the most stellar reputation.

Bethesda has made new content connecting the show to their games, but clearly, it arrived a bit late.

Maybe Rockstar Was Always Planning Continued Support

If we were to be honest about this, it makes most sense that Rockstar was just planning to keep supporting Grand Theft Auto Online. In fact, they may have planned continued support well after the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6.

Whatever plans Rockstar has for Grand Theft Auto Online in Grand Theft Auto 6, they don’t have to stop supporting it until the players abandon it. If they can keep Grand Theft Auto Online going in both Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto 6, you know that Rockstar will do just that.
