Rockstar Just Punished Grand Theft Auto Online Players Who Used The Sentinel XS Glitch

Cheaters never prosper, at least if Rockstar catches you.

Rockstar just went after hackers in Grand Theft Auto Online.

Twitter user affmal just shared the news:

Rockstargames banned people who did the sentinel glitch 5 days before the release of the dlc leaving them with 0 dollars and a banned account.

Rockstar’s Severe Punishment To Cheaters

Indeed, we just checked and there are people who confirmed that they got banned on Reddit. DaGhost17 explained they got this message:

Your account have been suspended of Grand Thef Auto Online to 1 january 2026

Subsequently, this post was dated back to 6 days ago, far ahead of Grand Theft Auto Online: A Safehouse In The Hills.

Obviously, they may be unhappy with it, but you won’t find these players getting support to get their virtual money back.

What Is The Sentinel XS Glitch?

As explained in this Se7ensins forum thread, there is a glitch in Grand Theft Auto Online that allows you to duplicate a Sentinel XS, or alternately the Bravado Banshee GTS.

Whether you like these cars or not is beside the point; each car is worth over GTA $ 1.4 million. So this is a really easy way to make money in a matter of minutes.

Is Rockstar Letting These Cheaters Off Easy?

We know some fans won’t agree, but we do think Rockstar is being lenient with their punishments here.

When you consider the particulars of this cheat, they did not use any cheating software or hardware to do it. They also didn’t try to violate Rockstar’s security measures. They were simply taking advantage of a cheat.

Rockstar did not give players fair warnings about using this particular cheat. But of course, that should not be necessary if players just accept the taboo against cheating.

So Rockstar’s punishment isn’t permanent, but they did want these players to feel they were punished.

Missing Out For A Full Month

Because of this, DaGhost17 and other players will be missing out on Grand Theft Auto Online: A Safehouse In The Hills for its launch. They can catch up when their suspension ends, but it just won’t be the same.

We imagine Rockstar has similar punishments planned if they catch players also using these cheats now and when this update goes live.

Ultimately, this update is arriving for a reason. While some fans just want to skip spending time to earn money, Rockstar is making it clear they want players to play the game.

Maybe someday Rockstar will make an idle clicker Grand Theft Auto game. Until then, though, we still have to play these games the non-clicker way.
