Hitman 4 Will Happen According To IO Interactive CEO

December 1, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

There’s just a lot on the developer’s plate right now.

The folks over at IO Interactive have been working on a few things at the moment. Coming off their successful World of Assassination, we knew that they would be dabbling with another major IP. Hitman might be a success, but IO Interactive is chipping away at another notable agent, 007. While they are working on the highly anticipated 007 First Light, they won’t be forgetting about Agent 47. A Hitman 4 will happen eventually, but it might be a bit before we see anything.

Recently, the CEO of IO Interactive spoke about the Hitman franchise. Specifically, we’re learning from a recent interview that there are plans for more Hitman video games. A Hitman 4 could see something after another year goes by. The reason for its holdup with the public is that there are a few exciting projects in the works, one of which deals with the current Hitman World of Assassination game.

Hitman 4 Will Happen Eventually

Speaking with Variety, IO Interactive’s CEO Hakan Abrak, noted that there will be more Hitman. That said, when it comes to the exciting world of Agent 47, there’s still support going into Hitman World of Assassination. After all, it was recently unveiled that there’s a crossover coming to the game with Eminem as you set out to eliminate his alter ego, Slim Shady.

But beyond that, there’s a push to bring co-op into the mix, as Abrak feels it would be a really good extension of the universe. That should also open up more mechanics and combinations for World of Assassination. After that, though, we’ll likely hear something about the next Hitman game.

So of course there will be more ‘Hitman. But right now, I think we need to get to the other side of this year and next year you’ll get more news about ‘Hitman’ co-op, because I think co-op is a really, really good extension to the universe, and will introduce very interesting mechanics and combinations in ‘World of Assassination.’ But we will, after that, be talking about the next ‘Hitman’ — because, of course, there’s going to be a next ‘Hitman.’”

Again, there are a few projects under IO Interactive. Outside of continued support for World of Assassination, they have 007 First Light as mentioned. The upcoming 007 game is scheduled for March 27, 2026, and will tell an origin story for James Bond. Then there’s also a new fantasy IP being developed, although we know next to nothing at the moment when it comes to that game.
