Forgery Is More Profitable Than Drugs In Grand Theft Auto Plus Right Now, For Some Reason

October 10, 2025 by Ryan Parreno

Rockstar didn’t call their million dollar franchise Grand Forgery Auto.

PLTytus made an interesting discovery on Grand Theft Auto Online this week.

As he said on Twitter:

Lmao, GTA+ can earn more from Documents than Cocaine.

And Documents takes 3 hours to fill up. With supplies enough for 2.5 hours of work.

When someone asked him about this, he made a reasonable explanation:

it is 2x for +, cash and documents, documents are x4 this week due to bonus for non-plus players

To be clear, documents specifically refer to making document forgeries.

Why Do Players Dislike The Document Forgery Office?

The Document Forgery Office is one of several businesses you can open when you start or join a Motorcycle Club.

The idea behind this is that the club can purchase some specific types of warehouses to do their business.

The other warehouses and businesses motorcycle clubs can get into include a weed farm, making counterfeit cash, and running cocaine and metamphetamine labs.

Between all of them, the forgeries business is the one that makes the least money, most of the time.

How Realistic Is This Even?

The forged documents seem to mostly be related to passports and licenses. We can’t speak to more high stakes forgeries like business contracts or insurance claims.

It does make sense that there’s always demand for passports, so much that you can do business faking them.

Are You Ready For Some Real Life Crime Revelations?

Quartz reported in 2022 that there is a huge black market for passports right now. In the digital age, most of the market is cornered by ‘passport scans’, AKA, faked images of passports.

But real and fake passports are also for sale in this black market. A faked passport could be had for $ 1,500, while a real passport could go for $ 13,500.

So on the face of it, it doesn’t seem like forging documents wouldn’t be that big a business. It certainly doesn’t have the ‘allure’ of more high profile crimes like dealing drugs.

But clearly, there’s a lot of money in forgeries in real life too. But that’s the extent to which we want to know about this world.

This Probably Won’t Be Permanent – But Should It?

Based on what PLTytus said, this oddity is likely to end when the current Double Reward period ends.

For those players who got stuck with the lowest yielding motorcycle club business, it’s a nice little bonus they’ll get for now.

But maybe Rockstar should give players a solid and make Document Forgery Offices more profitable overall. Maybe that’s something they thought about for Grand Theft Auto 6.
