Ramius Submarine Slasher Event Coming To GTA Online

October 3, 2025 by Ryan Parreno

It’s fine, I just didn’t think it would be in a submarine.

GTA Online’s Halloween celebration includes an unusual event.

Rockstar provided this description to an upcoming Slasher event called Ramius Submarine:

The latest twist on this Halloween classic puts you aboard the pitch-dark confines of the Ramius submarine.

You’ll need to rely on your remaining senses to navigate multiple decks, survive combat at close quarters, and evade a watery grave.

The Slasher begins each round armed with a Shotgun while the Hunted can use Flashlights to navigate the darkness.

After three minutes, the Hunted get Shotguns and the stalker becomes the stalked.

Fight it out beneath the waves in Slasher (Ramius Submarine) to earn 2X GTA$ and RP as part of the Featured Series from October 16–22.

What’s A Slasher Event Again?

Slasher is a specific Adversary Mode that debuted in 2015’s Halloween event. It’s an asymmetric mode as one Slasher takes on the Hunted team, which can vary from one to seven members.

But perhaps most intriguingly, it’s set in complete darkness. All these events happen indoors, evoking all the suspense of a slasher film.

The Slasher starts out with one Pump Shotgun with a flashlight attached to it, and a machete for melee. The Hunted only get flashlights themselves.

For the first three minutes, the Slasher is free to find and kill all of the Hunted. But after those three minutes, all the Hunted will get shotguns themselves.

As you can imagine, this mode has already given GTA Online players cheap thrills before. But you may be wondering about the submarine.

What Is The Ramius?

The Ramius is a typhoon class nuclear submarine introduced in GTA Online’s Doomsday Heist.

That even evoked the submarine based thrillers of the 1990s and 2000s, as government agents actually hired you out to fight foreign agents.

The Ramius itself is a direct reference to The Hunt For Red October. In that story, Captain Marko Ramius brings his typhoon class submarine the Red October to US sea territory.

Ramius defects to the US, and is aided in this by CIA agent Jack Ryan. Yes, this was a Tom Clancy novel. This was probably the closest Rockstar could get to making a Tom Clancy video game.

A Slasher Movie Tribute – To A Movie That Never Got Made

What’s interesting about this event is it may look like it’s based on a real slasher movie, but that’s not the case at all. Nearly all submarine based horror films had science fiction or fantasy themes and were not slashers.

It’s a remarkably original idea and it’s surprising that nobody came up with a movie version of this in the 1980s. Maybe Roger Corman just never found the opportunity.

Anyway it’s a slasher film scenario you can play out yourself, later this month.
