Ubisoft Accidentally Revealed They’re Making A Far Cry Show

August 12, 2025 by Ryan Parreno

Ubisoft may not have announced it because they might not be sure it’s happening yet.

Ubisoft has accidentally revealed their contribution to the video game Hollywood adaptation era.

Eurogamer reports that Ubisoft’s website suddenly revealed a new Far Cry show. Ubisoft removed the information from the site, but not before fans spread what they could find.

The project is being spearheaded by Rob Mac and Noah Hawley in partnership with 3A Entertainment. Rob Mac will star in the show, and it will be broadcast by FX.

What We Know About The Producers

Rob Mac is better known as Rob McElhenney, especially for fans of his old show, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Noah Hawley is a producer best known for the FX show adaptation of Fargo. His latest show, Alien: Earth, is set to launch on FX next week.

The show is a co-production between Mac’s company, More Better Productions, Hawley’s 26Keys Productions, Ubisoft with Gerard Guillemot and Margaret Boykin, and longtime Hollywood entertainment company 3Arts Entertainment.

3Arts worked with Rob Mac on shows like Welcome to Wrexham and Mythic Force. However, they have been a notable TV and film producer since the 1990s. Their work includes King of The Hill, The Office, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

What Will This Show Be Like?

Ubisoft’s Margaret Boykin shared these comments on the show:

This collaboration is really an embarrassment of riches.

Far Cry is a psychological tailspin that doesn’t shy away from the darkest and most absurd parts of humanity, which aligns perfectly with FX’s bold and fearless storytelling style.

Finally, the show is described as an anthology drama with each season introducing a new cast of characters and a new setting. Ubisoft’s website compared this to the Far Cry video game format. But it also sounds like a former Noah Hawley project, the Fargo show.

Should We Be Excited?

There’s two reasons that this Far Cry show could be interesting, even if you don’t like Far Cry, or even play video games. Hawley’s Fargo show is considered part of the proverbial modern day golden age of television. It cast a-list talent to play out small town high drama and earned numerous accolades in five seasons that slowly released for a decade.

Fans who watched Mythic Quest know it skewered the video game industry itself, as Rob Mac played the head of a game studio making a fantasy title. That show also earned some critical acclaim. What you may not know is Ubisoft was part of that production all the way back in 2020.

So this show could have been a long time coming. Ubisoft could have already been talking to the same producers on adapting their franchises for years now.

It’s clear that this could have also been a big money deal. Ubisoft could be hoping that it could gain both critical and commercial success. If Ubisoft pushes through with this project, it could turn out to be another adult program hit for FX.
