After a recent rumor implied Sony was going multiplatform, Nate The Hate went online to reassure their fans.

Nate The Hate made this statement on Twitter:

More Sony games will come to Xbox, yes.

I don’t know anything about LEGO Horizon going to Xbox… but even if it did… would anyone care?

Nate also clarified he has no specific games to share right now.

Why Did They Ask This?

Sony posted a job opening last week that made it clear Sony is going multiplatform. PlayStation is looking for a Senior Director of Multiplatform & Account Management.

This is not really a rumor or leak of any kind. Sony is clearly looking for someone to manage their plans to release games on more platforms. The job listing even names Xbox and Nintendo as potential platforms.

Does Nate Know Anything?

Nate The Hate has gotten two Nintendo Direct events correct this year already. While the big Switch 2 Direct was more important, his reputation was elevated when the correctly revealed yesterday’s Nintendo Direct in advance.

Nate has also shared multiple rumors about PlayStation events and games in the past. His rumors are not always correct but he has a good batting average with them. So he is still considered a credible source.

Nate’s claim, and his follow up clarification, is carefully worded. If you look at how he said it, he can actually say he doesn’t personally know anything. And the truth is, he doesn’t need any insider information.

That job listing last week is more than enough proof that Sony plans to bring their first party games to other platforms, including Xbox and Nintendo. Maybe there are some fans who don’t want to believe it, and think Nate has some authoritative voice in the matter.

The Truth About Video Game ‘Insiders’

Video game reporters, and people who share rumors, don’t run elaborate CIA-style operations to get their rumors. Many of them just datamine information. Some find publicly available documents, like legal filings.

And a lot of people just know someone who works in the company who is willing to talk. Maybe some video game companies have complex security measures for this sort of thing. But the people who get the rumors out at the other end don’t.

Nate probably found out that PlayStation is moving to be more multiplatform at the same time that we all did. More importantly, while some fans did not want to believe it would happen, we could see it a mile away.

Microsoft is making the lion’s share of revenue on PlayStation 5 right now. It’s even possible they’re making more money on the console than Sony is themselves. If Sony wants to bring their games to Xbox and Nintendo, it isn’t because they expect Xbox and Nintendo fans to make them that much money. It’s because their game studios also need more people to buy their games.
