Capcom is cooking up a couple of Resident Evil game projects. We knew that the next mainline entry was coming our way in the form of Resident Evil Requiem. However, another game is also being brought to fans this year called Resident Evil Survival Unit. This was just unveiled to the public, so let’s give it a quick breakdown and fill you in. For starters, don’t expect this game to land on consoles or PC.
It’s not Capcom directly behind this project. While they are offering guidance, the actual development comes from developers Aniplex and JOYCITY. The duo is working to deliver a mobile strategy game that will give players a new way to experience this franchise. For some of you, this might be an instant turn-off. However, since it’s free-to-play and we have a new mainline entry coming our way, the release of this title might entice some players to give it a shot.
What Is The Resident Evil Survival Unit Story Premise?
To start things off, the focus of the game is to drop players into a parallel world. Details are still a little scarce, however, we know how the game will open up. Players will wake up in a mysterious hospital as one of Umbrella Corporation’s test subjects. Your goal from here is to uncover the truth of what’s going on and escape the hospital.
Who Are The Characters In Resident Evil Survival?
One of the big aspects Capcom was driving about this game was the fact that you’ll have a ton of characters showing up. Players will find the obvious fan-favorites showing up like Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Redfield, and Jill Valentine. However, there will also be a few characters like Alyssa Ashcroft, Barry Burton, and the Merchant, who will be lending a hand. We’re still left waiting on the full roster reveal.
Meanwhile, you can expect a wide variety of enemies to face. That includes a new enemy from artist Yoshitaka Amano, an enemy known as Mortem.

We have snippets of the gameplay for Resident Evil Survival Unit in the announcement video. Again, this is a strategy game, so you’ll need to think out how you approach the fight. With that said, each character is said to bring their own attributes.
When Does Resident Evil Survival Unit Release?
Unfortunately, we’re not quite sure yet. That said, we are expecting it to release this year. In the meantime, players interested can pre-register for the game on both Google Play and the App Store.
