Fans are waiting endlessly for Rockstar Games to finally bring out the next anticipated installment to the Grand Theft Auto franchise. We, of course, know that the next game coming our way is Grand Theft Auto 6, and fortunately, we know when it’s planned to release. As we slowly count down the days until it’s finally available, fans continue to pour over the trailers and screenshots available for new, uncovered details. One of the latest screenshots has become a clue for some fans that a significant change is coming to a gameplay mechanic.
Driving is a huge mechanic to the game; it’s in the title, after all. Stealing vehicles and racing through the bustling city streets is something we’ll all be doing at some point in the upcoming installment. However, you likely are familiar with how often your character will fly through the windshield of their vehicle when you crash at a high rate of speed. It could also mean a quick death.
Thanks to Dexerto, we’re learning that one Reddit user has noticed a small detail in a screenshot that might alter this aspect. It appears that there is a screenshot showing a sun visor with an airbag warning. For some, this could be just nothing more than developers looking to get as detailed as possible with the vehicle design. However, others are assuming that we might have more realistic car crashes.
Perhaps with GTA 6, we’ll now have the ability to buckle up and also have airbags. That might help keep your character from flying through the windshield. Of course, that’s just speculation, but with Rockstar Games looking to raise the bar with each installment, it would be interesting to see if this is something developers have incorporated into the game and how cars look and perform after being involved in a crash.
Again, this is all speculation right now as we wait for gameplay footage to drop for Grand Theft Auto 6. As mentioned, we are aware of the intended launch date for the game in the marketplace. The developers are currently aiming to launch the game on May 26, 2026. When it does release, you’ll find it available for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms. In other news related to the upcoming game, it seems like the previous protagonists are hopeful to have one final score DLC.
