PlayStation 5 owners have been enjoying Microsoft’s first-party games for a little while now. It wasn’t too long ago that Microsoft changed up its strategy. Rather than focusing on just launching exclusives to get players on its platforms, they have opened up where first-party games will land. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, one of those first-party titles, has officially been confirmed to land on PlayStation 5 this summer.
Ninja Theory has been around for a while, but you might best know them from their 2017 title hit, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. At the time, this was when the studio was independent and managed to release the title across PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch platforms. However, in 2018, Microsoft officially acquired the studio, making it a new first-party studio.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II was launched a few years later and was mainly expected to be only for PC and Xbox Series X/S platforms. But as mentioned earlier, we’re seeing Microsoft start to share its catalog of games across the board, and today we officially know the game is coming to PS5.
Unfortunately, details are not readily available. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II was only noted by a Ninja Theory YouTube video that the game would be coming to the PlayStation 5 this summer. That’s as narrow of a release date as we have right now. Of course, there was also confirmation that some exciting new features would be coming with this release.
We don’t have any insight as to what these features are. However, they will be available in the game with the PlayStation 5 release. Furthermore, it was noted that this update would be pushed out for free for players on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
Meanwhile, if you’re looking for a little more insight into the game and our initial impressions of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, we do have a Before You Buy video. You can view that video below. However, please note that this is our impression of the game when it initially launched and doesn’t reflect the PlayStation 5 version of the game.
