Analyst Suggests Resident Evil 7 Announcement At E3

May 17, 2016 by Dennis Patrick

Capcom may go old school with survival-horror element.

Capcom may be revealing their next installment to their Resident Evil series at this year’s E3. The news came from a Japanese analyst, Serkan Toto, who mentions that the game is actively in development and will be shown off during the upcoming expo. Furthermore, if the analyst is correct, the development team has been going back to its roots with this main installment.

Serkan Toto, an analyst, made an announcement through Twitter that Capcom is actively working on the next main installment to Resident Evil. Resident Evil 7 also has Jordan Amaro part of the team who was a designer for the Metal Gear Solid V video games and for a short period of time, P.T., the teaser production from Hideo Kojima that was used to reveal the production of Silent Hills, a title that has since been canceled.

1) About Resident Evil 7: Yes, it’s in development. The entire game will go back to RE’s horror roots and (essentially) be a clean slate.

2) They will show it at E3. The RE7 team hired Jordan Amaro, a designer who previously worked on MGS V and P. T. at Kojima Productions. /end

Interestingly enough, it seems that Capcom is listening to the fan feedback and will be going back to their roots when it comes to the gameplay of Resident Evil 7. It’s no secret that over the years, Resident Evil has shifted from its survival-horror video game genre to a more action-packed experience.

This is something that fans have expressed their desire for a game that caters to fans of the previous original Resident Evil release. Furthermore, the previous main installment to the Resident Evil franchise, Resident Evil 6, had not received the reception that Capcom hoped for.

It would be interesting to see how the game is announced as Capcom normally sticks to just a booth on the E3 expo floor rather than a conference like Microsoft and Sony. There’s always a first for everything and with Capcom already making mention of other video games in the works on their Capcom investor website, it would seem that they have plenty of news to offer.
