Ghost of Yotei Devs Are Still Aiming To Release The Game This Year

March 27, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

We should have this one before 2026.

Ghost of Yotei was one of the big video game reveals from Sony’s PlayStation State of Play event last year. It shouldn’t come to much surprise that the developers over at Sucker Punch Productions were interested in bringing out a new game after the success of Ghost of Tsushima. When the game was unveiled last year, we learned that the developers aimed to release it within 2025. Fortunately, it looks like that release window is still the case today.

This news stems back to Andrew Goldfarb, a senior communications manager for Sucker Punch Productions. Taking to X, Andrew recently messaged their followers about seeking help to fill spots currently open within the studio. It was mentioned that the development team seeks an experienced community and support specialist to help with the game launch.

Come work with me! We’re looking for an experienced community and support specialist to help us launch Ghost of Yōtei this year: https://t.co/7tbj7eYTe9

To be clear upfront: this is a contract role, and can be fully remote but only in the US & Canada. Feel free to DM questions! pic.twitter.com/knCklRLM3t

In that same message, Andrew noted that the developers intended to release Ghost of Yotei within this year. Fortunately, it doesn’t look like anyone will have to relocate if interested in this position. That’s because this is a contract role and can be fully remote. Still, players who are more interested in the game rather than the development production will rest easy knowing that so far, this title is not being pushed back.

We know that the Ghost of Yotei will take place several hundred years after the events of the Ghost of Tsushima. Players will step into the role of a new protagonist named Atsu, who is a female warrior. We also know that the game focuses heavily on the environment, providing new challenges for players. Likewise, there appears to be more focus on players making choices that could adapt to how the narrative continues.

While we wait for a more specific release date on this game, Ghost of Yotei is set to be an exclusive release for the PlayStation 5. Again, we should have the game sometime in 2025, but we’ll have to wait and see if the developers are able to get it polished up and ready before 2026 arrives.
