Blizzard’s Overwatch witnessed a little over 9.7 million players during its open beta phase.

The open beta ran for five days, and during that time, those 9.7 million were able to accumulate more than 4.9 billion gameplay minutes, which is equal to approximately 81 million hours.

Blizzard CEO and Co-founder Mike Morhaime expressed his happiness by thanking the community for its support and feedback for their game, which is their first try at the shooter genre and their biggest open beta to date.

“We’re thrilled that such an incredible number of players from around the globe got a chance to check out Overwatch during the open beta, our mission was to make sure as many console and PC gamers as possible could experience the full game ahead of its launch – the response was overwhelming, and we hope that everyone had a blast.”

Overwatch releases fully on May 24 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
