It might be surprising to hear, but there are plenty of internal concerns regarding Grand Theft Auto VI. While Rockstar Games has had quite an exceptional run of game releases, it doesn’t mean they can’t stay on their toes. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick recently commented on the fears and the constant battle to keep ahead of the competition. Hopefully, these fears will result in continuing to bring out the best in every studio.
In a recent interview on Gamesindustry.biz, Take-Two CEO Straus Zelnick was asked what he might have seen regarding fan concerns and worries about the upcoming game. GTA 6, after all, is one behemoth of a game that was recently reaffirmed for a release this year. According to Strauss, he’s not seeing any gossip or worries.
Instead, he is seeing excitement over the game right now. However, he also notes that developers and publishers never claim success before they actually have it. So, everyone is running scared, just like with any organization. There is a lot of looking back and seeing what competitors are doing. No one is just cruising along as studios seek to continue innovating for players.
I haven’t heard any sort of gossip or worries, I think to the contrary, I’ve heard a lot of enthusiasm and as I like to say, we never claim success before we have it. We all run scared, as an organization we just do. We’re looking over our shoulders at our competition. They’re not asleep, they’re not waiting for us to do something.
We have a mission that we take really seriously to create the best entertainment properties on earth of any type and Rockstar, I think, embodies that mission. But folks at Rockstar would say the same thing, which is we’re doing the very best we can. We’ll wait, we’ll see, and the results will speak for themselves. – Strauss Zelnick
Still, Strauss notes that Rockstar Games is striving to deliver. Of course, we are still waiting to learn more about this upcoming installment, as we only have one trailer to highlight the game. Since then, Rockstar Games has gone silent, with no new marketing materials to help showcase what fans can expect this time around.
It’s possible that Rockstar Games is not even in a rush to deliver marketing materials. After all, the amount of hype, speculation, and rumors is generating enough marketing materials from the general public. So, we’ll have to continue waiting patiently for when Rockstar Games opts to bring out the next trailer or at least grace us with some screenshots.
