Battlefield fans were given an early look at Battlefield Labs’ upcoming announcement today. A leak might have persuaded EA to roll out their official announcement early instead of the planned reveal later today. Regardless, the leak was real, and the upcoming community tests are inbound for both Europe and North America. The latest announcement video also gives a small sneak peek of the gameplay that is currently in development.
We don’t have too many details about this next Battlefield game right now. However, the video released today does clarify that multiplayer and a singleplayer story campaign are attached. Likewise, plenty of teams are working on the various aspects of the game. Four studios are providing aid to ensure that Battlefield’s next game release is a big one. This includes DICE, Motive, Criterion, and Ripple Effect. All of these have their own focus on the gameplay experience, whether that’s singleplayer or multiplayer.
As the leak unveiled earlier today, Battlefield Labs is a new community playtest project. EA is seeking to focus more on players gaining access to different sections of the game ahead of launch. It seems that the developers want players to test a wide assortment of features with this installment, and with their feedback, they can make the necessary adjustments before they release it to the public. That’s a plus, as developers likely want to go through everything possible instead of going back and making changes post-launch.
The first tests are said to go live in the coming weeks. This will be for players and servers located in Europe and North America. Those interested in signing up can do so right here. If selected, you’ll receive an invite to test the game out. Fortunately, there are plans to expand invitees and server locations in the future.
While we don’t have too many details about the game, we get small bits of pre-alpha footage throughout the announcement video. You can find that footage in the video we have embedded below.
