It’s hard to believe that it’s been a full year now since Persona 3 Reload arrived on console and PC. The title was a visual and gameplay overall of the title that helped save Atlus, all the while keeping the story that helped it break through to gamers. Not only was it a critical darling, it was the first game in Atlus’s history to sell a million units in a single day. That was partially because Atlus was finally willing to do a simultaneous launch for its remake, and the benefits would pay off down the road as well.
Focusing back on the remake, Atlus took notes on what needed to be done and what could be left alone. Again, the game’s story was fine outside of some additional content that it deemed non-canon, so they left it on the cutting room floor. For the gameplay, they took notes from their more recent entries in the saga to make things more fluid and fun. They also added some all-new elements, like the “Theurgy” gauge, which allowed each member of the S.E.E.S. party to have ultimate attacks on foes that really shook up the gameplay flow. Plus, Atlus brought in an entirely new voice cast so that the game would sound as new as it looked. Speaking of the voice cast, Atlus revealed that in honor of the game’s first anniversary, the voice cast would come together to play Persona 3 Reload and answer fan questions:
Funnily enough, they’re doing it on the 11th, which could either be a simple timing thing, or they want to show that this is happening at the “11th hour,” which would be a nice pun on things in the game. No matter what, fans will want to check this out so they can learn more from the voicecast and pay tribute to the game that did really well in 2024.
Speaking of doing “really well in 2024,” Atlus as a whole did an incredible job last year. Not only did it launch this remake, but it also launched a potential new IP that was so high in quality that it sold a million units at launch. It was a Game of the Year nominee and winner! All of this is to say that Atlus has some serious momentum behind it right now, and gamers want to see where they’ll go next.
Of course, what fans want to know right now is what’s going on with a certain 6th mainline entry for the company’s main franchise…
