Industry Insider Claims Fable Will Release On PlayStation 5

December 16, 2024 by Dennis Patrick

Another Xbox console exclusive might also see a release to a competitor platform.

Fable is an iconic action RPG series, and it was a bit of a surprise that Xbox was bringing it back. After the lengthy hiatus from the franchise, Xbox unveiled to the masses in 2020 that Fable would come back into the limelight with a new development team taking over, Playground Games. However, one industry insider suggests that it’s only a matter of time before Microsoft unveils the game, and it will also see a release on PlayStation 5.

It might be frustrating for some who were Xbox console fans to see more exclusives make their way to other platforms. But that’s what we have been seeing more of with Xbox. It’s been noted in the past that what games would make their way to competitor platforms would be determined on a case-by-case basis. As mentioned, Fable is still only officially confirmed for the Xbox Series X/S and PC platforms.

However, an industry insider, Jez Corden, noted that there’s no way we won’t see this game also land on the PlayStation 5. Jez replied to a post from X that suggested that Microsoft would never let Fable land on PlayStation 5. However, because Jez noted that this was a very expensive project, there’s a high probability that we’ll see Microsoft seek to earn a little more profit with the game by bringing it over to the PS5. However, it might be similar to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle in that the game will arrive after it has been available on the Xbox and PC platforms for a duration of time.

That game was monstrously expensive. It might not be day one, but it'll come with the current plan in place imo.

That’s, of course, their opinion. It might be a little while before we see confirmation. Despite this, we know that Microsoft has been making more of a move to showcase players’ ability to enjoy the latest-generation games through its cloud-based services. The previously highlighted campaign focused on how many devices could be considered an Xbox because they can play titles from Xbox Game Pass despite not having native hardware to run the games.

For now, we’ll have to wait for Microsoft to unveil whether or not Fable will debut on the PlayStation 5 console. At the moment, we don’t have a specific release date attached to this game yet. However, it’s expected to land in the marketplace at some point next year, 2025.
