Bend Studio Might Be Working On A Military Live Service Game

December 11, 2024 by Dennis Patrick

Here’s what was reportedly leaked online.

Sony’s Bend Studio is known for a few games, most notably the Syphon Filter series. But their last game released was Days Gone, a title that will unfortunately not see a sequel from this team. Instead, they are working on something new, and today, we might have a few new details as to what that could be.

Thanks to a report from MP1ST, some materials surfaced online from a former employee at Bend Studio. The materials found came from someone who worked with the UI system for Bend Studio and showcased some of their work in a portfolio. Of course, details are scarce, but the publication was able to highlight that this could be a military live service title.

The screenshots don’t offer much of what to expect. However, from the placeholder character featured, they seem to be wearing some body armor. Likewise, there is mention of a character’s rank, another clue that we’re moving into a military-focused third-person shooter game.

Beyond that, MP1ST noted an aspect of crafting along with modern weaponry, which is featured in the UI screenshots. You can view the screenshots on their post, although it’s uncertain how long they might be available before potentially dealing with a takedown notice.

Regardless, one aspect that wasn’t featured is that there is apparently a short video clip highlighting what they felt was a multiplayer area where the weapon’s reticle pulses as your character’s HP drops.

These leaked materials on Reddit have already sparked interest in Sony’s Bend Studio, potentially picking up the Socom franchise and delivering a new take. Regardless, we’re left without any official details right now. But there’s hope we might see this game showcased tomorrow during The Game Awards. If not, perhaps this is one game Sony is tucking away for an official announcement at one of their presentations next year.

In other news related to Bend Studio, their previous work, Days Gone, is speculated to receive a remastered release. If this is the case, fans speculate we might get an announcement again tomorrow at The Game Awards.
