Assassin’s Creed Games Still Broken Due To Windows 11 Update

December 9, 2024 by Dennis Patrick

Ubisoft managed to provide fixes for only two games affected by the update.

Ubisoft has not had the greatest time lately. It’s been a rough go, with even new buyout terms being considered. Now, Ubisoft is still trying to put out a couple of fires that were stoked up due to a Windows 11 update. PC players that have any of these three Assassin’s Creed games installed on their systems will be left without the latest Windows 11 update until Ubisoft is able to figure out what’s going on.

Toward the end of last month, we learned that the latest Microsoft Windows 11 update had broken five Ubisoft games. This was so problematic that even Windows featured a new update to ensure that if any of these five games were installed on the PC, the update would not go through. Now, we’re learning that two of the five games have been resolved.

For those unaware, the five affected Ubisoft games were Star Wars Outlaws, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. However, according to a report from PC Gamer, both Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora have been resolved for the most part. It does seem like there could be some performance issues, but the games are at least up and running.

But we’re still waiting for the same treatment to be carried over to the three Assassin’s Creed games. It’s still uncertain what caused this issue, but some believe it could be related to the game engine used to craft these games. As noted by PC Gamer, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Star Wars Outlaws use the Snowdrop engine, while the Assassin’s Creed titles use the Anvil engine.

Regardless, it’s still being worked on, and hopefully, it’ll be fixed sooner rather than later. Likewise, we hope that we won’t see a similar issue arise when the next Assassin’s Creed title, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, drops next year.
