Paradox Alerts Cities: Skylines 2 Players A Popular Mod Might Be Targeting Your Crypto Wallet

November 4, 2024 by Dennis Patrick

Paradox urges players to be cautious with the Traffic mod.

Cities: Skylines 2 has been around for over a year, and fans have been exclusively going through the game on the PC platform. Those on consoles are still waiting to gain access, but the game is thriving on PC, with the base game and a slew of mods. However, there is one particular mod that became a prime target of investigation this past weekend. You should note what was uncovered if you were using the popular Traffic mod.

Thanks to PCGamesN, we’re finding out today that the Cities: Skylines 2 mod was updated by another party. It seems that a suspicious file was added to the Traffic mod, and it’s believed that this file will target cryptocurrency wallets. In particular, the file is believed to target the Exodus crypto wallet. Since then, the mod was updated in conjecture with Paradox and the creator to ensure that this file was removed from the mod and that the creator’s account is secure.

Apparently, more investigations are underway to learn more about the file and where it might have originated. However, beyond that, Paradox is likely going through other mods being offered to ensure that nothing else pops up. Regardless, you’ll want to run your own virus and malware checks.

Fortunately, the mod’s update looks to have fixed the file, so players who are fond of having more control over the traffic within their city can still use the mod as intended. That said, for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 players, we’re still waiting to learn when the game will finally make its way onto the console platform lineup. Of course, we’re hopeful until then there’s no other problems that pop up online with the modding community for this game. As always, it’s best to stay vigilant and ensure that the mods you are downloading are free from any malware.
