The last main entry in the Persona series was all the way back in 2008, when Shin Megami Tensi: Persona 4 came out for the PS2. Persona 4 Golden came out for the Playstation Vita in mid to late 2012, helping boost the sales of the device.
When the Persona 5 website countdown started, it ended up being a livestream announcement. That aired today, and they announced that Persona 5 will come to Japan on September 15th for PS3 and PS4.

Persona 5 is expected to be among the games showcased at E3 2016.
A Persona is a physical form of a person’s psyche. The inspirations and means of summoning them have changed throughout the series, but Persona 5 will have “Picaresque” Personas summoned by magical masks.
