Slitterhead Trailer Offers A New Deep Dive Into Unconventional Gameplay Mechanic

September 26, 2024 by Dennis Patrick

Check out the latest trailer right here.

There is some interest in Bokeh Game Studio’s debut title. That’s due to one of the studio’s founders, Keiichiro Toyama. The studio was founded in 2020, and Keiichiro was responsible for bringing out the Silent Hill franchise, followed by Siren and Gravity Rush. But their next big release is the upcoming game Slitterhead.

We have seen some snippets of Slitterhead in the past, but the game graced the public again with a new showing. This came as a trailer deep dive at the Tokyo Game Show. Thanks to IGN, you can view the new trailer footage in the video embedded below. But overall, the focus was on allowing Keiichiro Toyama to highlight the game a bit more and offer how they feel the gameplay mechanics might be a little unconventional.

For starters, we got another brief overview of the plot. This game is set in the 1990s in a rough city in East Asia. Invaded by a new creature that preys on humans, the city must work together to fight back. However, we’re not technically playing a single human character here. Instead, it’s been said that our character is a spiritual lifeform that can invade a human body to take control.

With this ability, players can quickly maneuver around the area by zapping between bodies. Meanwhile, you’ll have these humans to fight against the threat, which Keiichiro Toyama feels is a bit different for the game industry. During playtesting, they admitted that developers were still sticking to conventional ways of playing until realizing this game could open up some new ways of going through combat with this ability to switch between human bodies.

Slitterhead is set to launch into the marketplace this year. The game will be available on November 8, 2024, where you will be able to pick up a copy for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
