Sea of Stars Devs Announce Free DLC Coming Spring 2025

August 28, 2024 by Carley Garcia

Sabotage Studios promised that DLC was being developed earlier this year.

Sabotage Studio has finally announced DLC for the popular 2023 RPG Sea of Stars. Titled Throes of the Watchmaker, the new content will be available for free for all players when it releases in spring 2025.

Back in May, Sea of Stars creative director and president of Sabotage Studios Thierry Boulanger promised fans that DLC was in the works in an interview with Screen Rant.

Check out a trailer for the Throes of the Watchmaker DLC for Sea of Stars below:

In March, the dev team announced that a three-player couch co-op mode, dubbed Single Player+, was being added to the game to celebrate five million players. Combat will also be upgraded in Single Player+, with players needing to get used to a new ‘co-op timed hits’ mechanic. This feature will finally be added in the Throes of the Watchmaker DLC.

“This Sea of Stars downloadable content finds the Solstice Warriors Valere and Zale venturing into the miniature clockwork world of Horloge. In this magical land where denizens are threatened by a cursed carnival, our heroes will need to adapt to unfamiliar rules if their Sun and Moon powers are to manifest,” the DLC’s description reads.

Players can expect new playable classes for both Valere and Zale, a new playable character, and new music, areas, enemies, bosses, and puzzles.

In Sea of Stars, players control Valere and Zale, Solstice Warriors who utilize the power of the sun and moon to fight a god-like alchemist called the Fleshmancer. They are joined on their quest by Garl, a warrior-cook and childhood friend, Seraï, an assassin, B’st, a golem, and Resh’an, an immortal alchemist.

Sea of Stars is currently available for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The game was released in 2023 after a delay to prioritize the development team’s health and to ensure that the title was completed to the company’s high standards.

The game won Best Indie Game at the 2023 Golden Joystick Awards and Best Independent Game at The Game Awards 2023.
