Stellar Blade Fans Are Unhappy About “Key” Missing Feature

April 29, 2024 by Todd Black

Hopefully they’d use this feature in the “proper way”…

Despite what people will tell you, there’s no such thing as a perfect video game. Some titles come close, but if you really dive into them, you’ll find minor things that hold the game back from being true perfection. The twist is when you have a game that is seemingly doing rather well both with fans and critics, and then some people show up, stating that the game is missing something. Last week, Stellar Blade made its anticipated debut on PS5, and critics praised it for its action-packed gameplay, unique world, and interesting protagonist in Eve. However, not long after, some fans pointed out that the game didn’t have something that should’ve been “essential” for the game, and thus is “criminal” that it’s not there.

What are they saying is missing? That would be because Stellar Blade doesn’t have a Photo Mode. This discussion comes from Reddit, where many Redditors agreed that a Photo Mode would be nice. On a surface level, you can see why fans would want this. First off, many other video games on the PS5 and certain other systems have a Photo Mode. It’s a simple yet effective way for gamers not just to enjoy the game’s world but also to take and frame special photos that they can post online and show off to others.

If you recall, the PS4/PS5 games that featured the many Spider-Men of Marvel had a Photo Mode, and it was one of the biggest reasons that word-of-mouth spread about them, as everyone was taking photos with Spider-Man in their favorite Spidey suits.

Getting back to the new game, many parts of the praise that the PS5 exclusive got was because the graphics looked incredible. Thus, it makes sense to want to take photos of this beautiful world. However, one could also easily posit that fans want to take pictures of Eve, especially since she was modeled off of a Korean Idol, AKA superstar, and Eve has dozens of outfits to wear that could lead to some “unique photos.”

In that same thread, many Redditors feel that a Photo Mode will likely come now that the launch has happened via an update. That would fit with what certain games have done in the past, and it could be an indicator of more content to come. We know that a New Game Plus mode is in the title, and the Redditors also noted that this was just as important a feature, if not more so.
