Sonic Frontiers was one of the most recent Sonic games to release on all platforms, other than the newest game, Sonic Superstars which has still been receiving collaborations even though it came out last year. There are insiders currently claiming that Sonic Frontiers will be receiving a sequel, which is something many probably didn’t see coming after the mixed reviews the game received.
With the game having been out since 2022, it would be around time for a sequel to be announced and be in the works. Sonic Frontiers had made record sales of about 3.5 million from May 2023, according to GameRant, which could be numbers that Sega is really happy with, which could lead to the possible sequel as well.
The rumor of this possible sequel game comes from a subreddit called “gamingleaksandrumors,” and the insider who claims this information is Daniel Richtman, who is reportedly stating that a new Sonic Frontiers is currently in development. However, let’s note that no additional information was given from Richtman but instead from another well-knwon insider who also shared information about this possible leak on Twitter. Midori shared that the game would be called Sonic Frontiers 2 and would be a sequel to that game with the same type of gameplay style. Meaning we would be getting another open-world Sonic game.
Please note that these are just rumors as of right now, and the developers have not confirmed yet whether or not this sequel will happen. Hopefully, in the near future, we will have updates on this possible work-in-process.
