Bethesda has announced that the Skyrim Creation Kit is now available for download through Steam.
The Creation Kit gives modders access to the same suite of development tools that Bethesda used to build Skyrim, making it easier than ever to craft new content and gameplay modifications.
While Bethesda has a history of releasing modding tools for every release, the Creation Kit takes things one step further by allowing modders to share their content on the Steam Workshop, making it possible for players to browse and automatically install the latest mods directly through Steam.
As for that "special surprise" Bethesda teased late last week? Turns out it's an official high resolution texture pack, allowing those with high end PCs to make Skyrim even more visually impressive. To install it (free of charge!), just head to the game's store page on Steam.
If you'd like to download the Creation Kit, you can now find it in your Steam library listed under "Tools", though you might need to restart your Steam client for it to appear.
Bethesda has also started an official support wiki for the Kit, in case you're new to the modding scene.
