Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League Pulled From Early Access Due To Completion Bug

January 29, 2024 by Ryan Parreno

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is literally starting off on the wrong foot.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is literally starting off on the wrong foot.

As reported by Video Games Chronicle, the game’s Early Access was suddenly pulled offline from all players. In a statement shared on Twitter, Rocksteady explained that they had to take the servers down for now because of a completion bug.

This was the statement they shared on the game’s official Twitter account:

“We’re aware that a number of players are currently experiencing an issue whereby upon logging into the game for the first time, they have full story completion.

To resolve this issue, we will be performing maintenance on the game servers.

During this time the game will be unavailable. We expect this to take several hours and will update once we have more information.

We apologise for the inconvenience.”

In the bigger picture, this is really a harmless little bug. While Early Access players have lost some of the value they paid for, this sort of thing is also a necessary risk that everyone who buys Early Access has to accept.

But in the context of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, this is a rough way to start things off. The title has not really recovered from the bad vibes gamers and the games press alike took from an ill-fated presentation WB Games held in a State of Play event last year.

Now, one of the big issues surrounding the title is that it has an always online component, a requirement even if you decide to play alone. Eventually, Rocksteady revealed that they will push a post-launch update to remove the always online component.

So, obviously, we can’t blame Rocksteady for not having a patch ready to remove the always online yet. We understand that for whatever reason, they can’t remove the always online requirement yet. Unfortunately for them, that also clearly means every time this game runs into any issue, Rocksteady will have to pull the game to fix it. We just saw this play out very poorly for Payday 3 a few months ago. Starbreeze’s struggles then may be what Rocksteady’s struggles will be in the coming week.

While we won’t be ruling the game’s success out, every little bit of bad news like this makes it seem like it won’t be the hit for WB Games that Mortal Kombat 1 and Hogwarts Legacy were last year. There just seems to be so many things going against it and its public perception. We literally just reported a few hours ago that Denuvo was quietly added to the Steam version of the title.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League will be released on February 2, 2024, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. It is also arriving to PC via Epic Game Store on March 5, 2024.
