The Sinking City Returns With New DLC

January 8, 2024 by Dennis Patrick

Frogwares is now the sole publisher.

Update:

Frogwares has released a new FAQ to help navigate players through this upcoming game version release.

Original Story…

I’m sure you recall The Sinking City. The game launched back in 2019 under development team Frogwares. At the time, this game was published through Bigben Interactive, now known as Nacon. However, the game had a rocky start in the marketplace due to a dispute between the development team and the publishers. That resulted in quite a cluster, forcing the game to be removed from digital marketplaces. Now, the dust has finally settled, and Frogwares has retained full publishing rights for their game. We might be several years since this title launched into the marketplace, but Frogwares hopes you might be interested in returning to this survival horror experience.

Shortly after New Year’s, Frogwares took to the internet and unveiled that they are now the sole publisher of The Sinking City. As a result, we would see the game return with some new content. However, there is a slight issue that the development team is trying to alert followers. A new version of the game will be released across the different platforms. We don’t have a ton of details right now, but this new version is said to be more optimized and features several bug fixes. But there is a downside.

Apparently, some technical limitations would prevent your old version of game saves from loading. As a result, Frogwares is doing you the solid of keeping the old version of the game for now. That won’t last forever, as you will find the old version of The Sinking City playable for a limited time. So, those of you who have yet to finish the game will have some time left to reach the credits.

Likewise, there is a DLC set to release for this new version of the game. Again, we’re waiting for some additional details, but this new DLC is called Merciful Madness, and it doesn’t appear to be accessible in the old game version. Again, Frogwares keeps players in mind if you want to play this DLC without having to start the game over. Noted by Frogwares, there will be some prepared game saves that players can download to begin the Merciful Madness quests.

If you haven’t played this game yet, The Sinking City is a title inspired by H. P. Lovecraft. The game will put players into the role of a private investigator during the 1920s as you uncover a sinister mystery centered around a city experiencing a flood. We do have a Before You Buy video coverage for The Sinking City. You can view that below, but remember that this is the game version that was initially released into the marketplace several years ago and not the upcoming new version.
